Polar Express Journey Of The Heart

Before I was saved I had watched Polar Express with my kids and like everyone else I thought this movie was about Santa but after you have eyes to see, after you have been born again, you realize the kids in the movie represent the different types of people there are and the believing is about believing in God.

When I saw this movie again the ticket really stood out to me because of my father in law. He passed away in 2009. He was suffering from cancer and was bed ridden for a year. During one of the visits my husband had with his dad, he spoke of his ticket. His dad was looking all over the bed for something and my husband asked him what he was looking for. He said he was looking for his ticket. He went on to say that it had been punched and Jesus told him all that he had to do was wave his ticket and he would be let in. He said God was around the corner and he was just waiting to be let in. He found the ticket and sat there holding it peacefully, but to my husband, he saw nothing.

I know the movie has a surface meaning about Santa but I see a deeper meaning and wanted to write about it. I see the Polar Express as a journey of the heart. The boy who the movie is about is a doubter. Although he does want to believe, he needs proof.  He looks to his books for answers and finds that the North Pole is stark, barren, devoid of life. A lot like people’s hearts today.  This boy takes a journey into his heart and finds life, wonder, belief.  On his journey he meets three people. One is a believer, a girl, who has faith, doesn’t try to figure things out, just believes. She sees the wonder in it all and makes people want what she has. There is a boy who is a”know it all”. He has knowledge spilling from the brim! But all the knowledge in the world will not compare to experience. He fills his mind with all the facts but doesn’t give room in his heart for faith. He really doesn’t know anything at all because he can’t see with his heart, like the girl. Then another boy he meets is negative. He is portrayed as poor because that’s how he views himself. He actually blocks his blessings because of his negative attitude. Life doesn’t happen for him because he has no faith. He denies himself the experience but there is hope for him because he changes his mind. This is what repenting is about, changing our mind about it.

At first the boy is afraid to board the train. Aren’t we all? Afraid to take that leap of faith. Afraid we might find out it’s true and it will change us forever. We are afraid to search our hearts because our natural mind doesn’t understand it. It’s another realm, another world. The unknown. He does it though! He jumps aboard and goes on this journey.  After he meets the kids he meets a ghost who helps him along. This represents Jesus to me. The ghost is always there to save him or help him. The conductor reveals that he had a helper once and the boy knew who he was talking about. The conductor goes on to say sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.  The spiritual realm for instance is invisible to us because we are in the physical realm but we can access it through our heart. The girl and the poor boy sing a song describing two different perspectives. She describes what she has experienced and he describes what only he has heard about. Her Christmas experience is full of wonder and awe and his is not filled with anything. When you block your heart from something you are missing out.

When they get to the North Pole the girl describes how beautiful the bells sound but the doubting boy doesn’t hear anything. Even with Santa right in front of him he can’t hear the bells. Just like when Jesus was right in front of the Pharisees, they didn’t recognize Him. The boy has to change his heart to receive the sound of the bell. When he holds it up to his ear and shakes it there is a voice saying, doubt, doubt, doubt. This is what Satan does to us. He is always whispering to us to get us off track. The boy decides to confess that he believes and then everything changes. When we confess our belief, like it says in the Bible to do then everything changes. Romans 10:9, If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. God hears us when we confess we believe. The boy could then hear the ringing of the bell. When Santa goes to speak to them he tells each one a word of wisdom. The “know it all” boy needed humility and patience. The poor boy needed friends. The girl was told she was full of confidence and spirit, keep up the good work. The doubting boy got to go to the sleigh. He was an overcomer. Since he overcame his doubt he got the first present. His present was the bell. Santa said the bell was just a symbol. He said the true spirit of Christmas lives in your heart. God’s Holy Spirit lives in our heart.

Make room for His Holy Spirit to live in your heart so you can experience all God has to give. Don’t be a doubter, a person who knows all the facts but doesn’t have experience, a negative person who blocks God’s blessings. Believe and receive the Holy Spirit to lead you, teach you and be your friend. When we believe a whole new world opens up to us. We will begin to see and hear the invisible.

God’s Will

About 2 years ago I had a revelation about God’s will. For years I wondered what His will was for my life. I didn’t know I was actually living it until I was taken away from it. By the grace of God I was put back into His will like picking up a piece to a puzzle and fitting it back into place.

I have been on this discipleship journey[ this is what I call it but I read someone refer to it as being a God explorer, I like that], for 5 years now. I have known  being a wife and mom is His calling for my life. I want to say something about that. For anyone else who is a stay at home mom I know from experience we can tend to feel like we don’t matter so I have something to encourage you. Here is a link to a Lesson that talks about being a godly mother, if we are doing our job right we will have a fulfillment that is indescribable! https://bible.org/seriespage/lesson-11-influence-godly-mothers-2-timothy-15-314-17 Here is a little bit of what the lesson says: Even many Christians have adopted the cultural trend. While I realize that there are legitimate cases of economic hardship where the mother’s job is a necessity (as with single moms), there are also many situations where the family could make it on just the husband’s job, but they choose to have the mother work so they can “have a better lifestyle.” But I question whether trading a mother at home for increased income really provides a better lifestyle. Most kids would vote for less junk and a mom at home.

Now after being saved I thought, well now I have this passion for Jesus, so how do I apply it in my life as well? The revelation of taking care of your family and making a life here is a give in to the will of God. But YOU have to figure out what it is that He put you here for to further His Kingdom.

That is really why we are here, to glorify God, worship Him and further the kingdom. Matthew 6:33, But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. I base my life around this scripture. God wants to be first in your life. Everybody’s call is different to further the kingdom. We are all like Moses, Esther, David. We ALL have something in our own time to accomplish. For such a time is THIS, NOW! What has God placed in your heart to accomplish for Him? For His Kingdom?

Seek Jesus and You Seek Wisdom

In Chronicles 9 Queen Sheba visited King Solomon and she experienced his wisdom. She had HEARD of his wisdom and didn’t believe it until  she went to see him and experienced it for herself. There is a similarity to her seeking King Solomon and us seeking Jesus. Do we really want to seek Jesus, experience Him for ourselves or do we want to let someone else lead and guide us through so called church? I choose to seek Jesus for myself. Know the truth from my own experiences with Him. We can only KNOW something through experience. In Proverbs 9:10 it says worship and reverence for God is the chief and choice part [ the beginning ] of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. First we have to have a respect for God and a heart that worships Him before we can receive His wisdom.To have a heart for worship means we have to be born again. The Bible says we can only worship in spirit and in truth, so if we aren’t born again of His Spirit we can not worship Him. We are dead in our sins until we are made alive by God’s power.  Chronicles 9:23  says God put wisdom in Solomon’s mind. I like what Joyce Meyer says in my Bible in putting the Word to work, she said, God-given wisdom is far more valuable than wealth.

I came across a native american proverb the other day that makes a lot of good sense.

64aa1fad13308302a12001ddc8c21ccd

I believe the native american had life right. They lived off the land, worshiped and reverenced God, protected the planet and loved others. After all that’s how we got Thanksgiving. But the white man ruined everything. Not so wise. The native american was wise. White man is all about money and wealth and statue. Native Americans just wanted to enjoy the life they had with what God provided because that was enough. Jesus is enough. God has given us everything we need but Satan wants us to think we need more worldly things to fulfill us. It’s the presence of God and His wisdom that will fill us. When we experience it we will see that this is what we have been longing for all along. I  have Native American heritage on my dad’s side and I don’t know if that’s why I am drawn to Native Americans. But even as a child watching those old cowboy movies I always rooted for the Native Americans. I have a need lately to listen to their music and chant. It connects me with God in a deeper more intimate way than the christian music today. I believe I’m on a journey from surface relationship with God to a deeper one.

Second Chronicles 15: 1-4, The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them.

If I seek God (Jesus) as craving for Him, I will find Him but if I become indifferent and forsake Him, He will forsake me. The Lord is with me while I am with Him. So when I am feeling alone and like God isn’t there, it is me forsaking Him.

KEEP SEEKING JESUS, NOT WEALTH!

A Valentine From God

On February 14,2013 I woke up with the number 32 appearing in my mind in different languages and forms. I was led to read Psalm 32 and felt it was my Valentine from God so I wanted to share it here for anyone who may be looking for their Valentine this year. Here it is from the One who loves you with an everlasting love that will never end. The One who will always be there for you and never leave. The One who carries you when your weak. The One who knows you intimately and is still there. The One who will love you like no one else can. God Loves You! Happy Valentines! From God to you,

Psalm 32

Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
    whose sin the Lord does not count against them
    and in whose spirit is no deceit.

When I kept silent,
    my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
    as in the heat of summer.[b]

Then I acknowledged my sin to you
    and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.

Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;
    you will protect me from trouble
    and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
    or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
    but the Lord’s unfailing love
    surrounds the one who trusts in him.

11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
    sing, all you who are upright in heart!

A Spiritual Lesson From Alice In Wonderland

Back in 2010 I began reading Alice in Wonderland after seeing the movie. The movie jumped out at me with all kinds of spiritual insight! I want to share some lines from the book that spoke to me along with the meaning I got from it that the Holy Spirit revealed to me.

Alice In Wonderland: For you see, so many out of the way things had been happening lately that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible. Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out of the way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way. Dear, dear! How queer everything is to-day! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night? Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle.

I want to share that when I received Jesus that these things started happening to me and they still do! I actually get depressed if nothing is happening. The times when I don’t recognize God in my life. When I don’t see Him, through various ways, I get sad. My life has no meaning, no purpose if I don’t connect myself with the Holy Spirit. I cannot and do not want to live without Jesus’ presence in my day to day life. Alice also said to think of 6 impossible things before breakfast. They can be possible through Jesus Christ! Stay on the path! There is a predestined path formed by God for you to walk in. Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.

Destiny is real if you choose it. Ephesians 2:10, For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. Our lives are predestined by God as long as we are walking the path God has planned for us. That path of God is planned by Him for us to make us a good and prosperous life. When we choose another path, the one we form, we then open ourselves up to Satan to take control of our life. This leads to destruction and ruin.

God does promise that if we get off the path, just as Alice did in the movie, that He works everything out for our good. Romans 8:28, And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. Keep loving God, putting Him first and growing up in Jesus and you will be back on the path for your life!

It’s The Sin I Hate!

When I became a mom I couldn’t figure out why I was getting angry when my children misbehaved or hurt one another. I never thought I had anger issues until I had kids! I tried to figure out why this was happening to me. Now that I have been in fellowship with Jesus, He has shined a light on the anger issue and it has changed the way I look at my kids and the way I handle situations that aren’t fun to deal with.

I had the revelation that when I get angry at them, it’s not the child that is angering me, it’s the SIN I hate! This is the same with God towards us. He always loves us but doesn’t always love what we do, think or say. Part of living in a godly way is renewing your mind with God’s Word everyday.

I don’t remember where I got this from, it’s in my notebook, but it says: It’s not enough just to believe the Bible, I must fill my mind and heart with it so that the Holy Spirit can transform me with the truth. We have to become doers of the Word.                                          Jesus pointed out that God’s blessing comes from obeying the truth, not just knowing it. John 13:13-17, You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you are right in doing so, for that is who I am. 14 So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet as well. 15 For I gave you [this as] an example, so that you should do [in turn] as I did to you. 16 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you are blessed [happy and favored by God] if you put them into practice [and faithfully do them].  I use the Joyce Meyer Everyday Bible Amplified Version and in it she puts God’s Word into affirmations and confessions so you can speak it out loud over your life. We have to speak God’s Word out loud to see it manifest in our lives. When we do this it puts us in agreement with Him and it has to come to pass because God’s Word does not return to Him void. Isaiah 55:11, So will  My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Remember words are empty without faith and belief. You have to believe what He says is true for you and your faith for Him to do it is what brings it to pass. We serve the same God as Abraham, Moses and all those in the Bible. That thought just amazes me! The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He never changes, so we can trust Him. Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever. God will do for you what He did for those in the Bible. We are in the ” To Be Continued” part of His Story.

When I began to believe these truths I began to trust God and that is the beginning of your relationship with Him. When we begin to come away from our sin nature through our faith in Jesus Christ, God smiles on us. The sin is what separates us from Him, that’s why He hates it. When you put your faith in Jesus, He takes the sin away and we can have access to God and all His Grace and provision for our lives!

Return To Innocence

I have come across a few posts here on Word press of people talking about how we as a culture have lost our childlike qualities as human beings. One person wrote how she hates what comes with being an adult. As we leave childhood we are made to think that all the things of being a child are useless and futile in the adult realm, but after you have been grown up awhile we see that being a child wasn’t so bad after all.

It’s the memories of having a carefree existence that we long for. No responsibilities, dead lines, bills, mortgage, car repairs, houses to clean, kids to feed, laundry to do, lawns to mow, etc… These are the things of the WORLD that Jesus was talking about that we aren’t suppose to carry. The future can be a big load to carry if we choose to. This is why Jesus has told us to live only for Today. The cares of tomorrow bring with it, it’s own trouble. Matthew 6: 25-34,

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

We can still function as we need to in the earthly realm while still having a childlike heart. From what I have been experiencing lately, I am learning that remembering what made me happy growing up can be replayed in my life and give me that same fulfillment. This began with my dream I had with Jesus. The movie Romeo and Juliet was in my dream with Him. I watched it the next day and remembered how I fell in love with it when I was 14. It took me back to that place in my heart. It felt good. So then I started remembering some music I used to like from Enigma and Kate Bush. The Enigma music with the Gregorian chants is what I liked. This led me to the native american chant song Yeha Noha.  Which is my favorite song now because it speaks love to me. I have been researching the songs I liked back then and have found that they all have something in common, LOVE. Could it be that we hate being adults because we are really missing real love in our lives?  As we age we forget what real love, real enjoyment truly is. We are brainwashed by society to be fake til we make it. All this fakeness is robbing us of our true identity!

If you are longing for a more fulfilled life go back to your innocence, what ever that is for you. For me it has been this music. I have never felt closer to Jesus except for when I got saved for real.  In order to come to Jesus we do have to become like a child.  Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:3. Open your heart, let it melt into His. Remember who you were, who you still are. Who God created you to be. This is your authentic self screaming to come out of the dark. Like Rob Thomas says in this song, Let it Go…

My Love Jesus by Regina Gibson

Immeasurable love,

Inexpressible love,

Never ending love,

Completeness in my being.

He knows me,

He loves me,

He is with me now and always.

I can’t wait to see Him in heaven.

He holds me,

He sees me,

He engulfs me.

I will praise You forever.

I will love You forever.

I will discover who You are

forever.

Forever will I love you, Jesus.

No Pay Back

How often do we really give without wanting something in return. I want to share a story about my father-in-law that has touched me and I hope it does the same for you. My hope is that you will see how your actions do make a difference in your little world. That you can really leave a good legacy if you just give yourself away. First I want to tell you that my father-in-law passed May 15, 2009.  He left many lessons for my husband to live by and that is what this story is about. I will refer to my father-in-law as dad.

When dad was here he was always making sure his kids had everything that they needed. Even after we were married and in our own homes he would come and make sure we had gas, food and money. He was a very giving person. He never concerned himself with material things for himself, only what we all needed. My husband recalls many times (so do I) when dad would come by or they would be in the car and he would pull out his money and say you need something? Here take this, he would peel off a twenty and hand it to us. My husband would say, ” Dad I’ll pay you back, thanks.” Dad said,” No son, I give to you so one day you will be able to give to your kids. You will be paying me back by helping them.” The impact of these words were felt today when my husband was in the car with our daughter. She wanted twenty dollars for something. They had gone to the ATM to get some money and when he got in the car and peeled off a twenty to give her, he saw dad in his mind giving him a twenty and started to cry.

He told me he felt like dad today, giving her the money. So you see what paying it forward really means? Give to others so they can give to others and so on. This is the legacy I hope I leave! This is making a difference in the lives of our loved ones. Give yourself away, it’s a beautiful thing!

The weird thing is when they were on the couch looking at what she bought with the money, I thought to myself how he gave her money to buy something she wanted so they could then sit together and let her share her joy with him. He gave her money, she gave him fulfillment in his heart to see her happy. His dad would be proud!

Be Like Mary

Mary is beautiful in my eyes because of her willingness to obey.  Luke 1:38, 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant[a] of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. I know in my life I have wanted to obey, but couldn’t muster up the ability to do it.  I pray to be willing. I pray this whenever I feel myself slipping back into just wanting to be in my cave. When we look at our circumstances around us and they don’t line up with what God is saying in our heart, we need to trust Him, obey Him, cooperate with Him, to see a miracle! This is when miracles happen! When we are in alignment with God’s divine will. Mary did all this and gave birth to our Savior, Jesus Christ! God’s ways  are higher than our ways, Isaiah 55:8-9, For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

They don’t make sense in our natural minds, but that’s why we need to trust, obey and cooperate. Follow as Mary did and you will experience God in your own life!

About this time last year I watched an awesome movie about Mary called Full of Grace, it is so good!
