What I am writing is derived from the Mosaic Bible and Bible scripture but I have also included my perspective and insight. Reading Psalm 121 and Mark 8:31-38. The reading in my Mosaic Bible talks about relationships and how they are important. We are created to be relational. Even though our society wants to make you think you have to do it all on your own, you can’t. Dependence on God and others is a gift in weak moments of our own. We can depend on God and trust Him because His relationship toward us is important to Him. If we trust Him we will be guided by Him. Relationship with Jesus is important now because it will affect our eternal life later. Jesus wants us to side with Him and give up this earthly life to have eternal life with Him. If we are ashamed of Him on earth He will be the same toward us in heaven in the presence of His Father and the holy angels. We should depend on Jesus now and commune with Him, be joyful in this relationship with Him.When we see Him in eternity our joy will be complete. Read Romans 4:1-25. We depend on Jesus for being our sacrifice for our sins. Without Jesus there is no eternal life. No hope for the ones who do not have faith in Jesus and trust Him for their salvation.
Trail to the Tree- Spirit Lighting
Scripture reading is about Jesus getting baptized by John to carry out the will of God and John saw the Spirit descending on Jesus and heard a voice from heaven say, ” This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
Ann says: Today bring Father great joy by living the fruits of the Spirit. Think on the Spirit descending on the Son and let Him light today upon you.
Because of Jesus’ relationship with God the Father He wanted to do God’s will. This brought great joy to God. When we honor our relationship with Jesus and follow Him, we are doing God’s will also. God is filled with great joy over us too. We also are filled with joy because the Holy Spirit inside of us causes us to do God’s will. This brings us great joy.
I learned a few years ago in the beginning of my relationship with Jesus, that all selfish thoughts, words and actions lead to sin. Jesus said all we have to do is love God and love others. I had a revelation about the scripture in John 12:24 almost a year ago.
John 12:24, 24 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest.
I didn’t understand this for awhile but now I do. What I have observed about this scripture is if I sit and do nothing or only serve myself, I am alone. I have to die to self to produce a harvest. In other words, give myself away to others. This is what makes the circle complete. We have a relationship with Jesus then share His love that we receive with others and we are complete. If I go and serve Jesus and others, I bear fruit and bring in a harvest. Put Jesus first in my life and people second. Serve the people God has placed in my life. It isn’t complicated, just pay attention to who is in front of me.
I pray to not be selfish and for God to help me serve Him with my worship and to help me serve others. I pray to not have the ” what about me” mentality and to meditate on the Word and to be able to do the Word. I confess that I will not be alone! I will die to self and serve others to gain a harvest for His Kingdom!
My reading today is a story about someone being in Easter and Christmas plays at school and how playing a peasant had an effect on her. She didn’t just play the role, she let the songs they sung penetrate her spirit and let them speak to her soul. She came to the realization that Jesus’ life that He offers is for EVERYONE! She saw that Jesus is the first to be resurrected and all of His followers will follow Him in resurrection also. And lastly she asks herself how is she denying self and being resurrected right now this Easter? I just read in my Not A Fan book that dying to self is putting Jesus first. He gave some interesting examples. It’s choosing Jesus over family and career goals. It’s choosing Jesus over getting drunk, over looking at porn. Choosing Jesus over a redecorated house. Choosing Jesus over what people think about you.
The scripture reading for today is Romans 8:31-39 and it’s talking about how we cannot be separated from the love of God because of Jesus. We have it all in and through Jesus Christ.
Ann Voskamp says: Today I will be astonished that because of Christ, hope rises from dead places, impossible stones can be rolled away, all the sad things are becoming undone.
What I ‘m learning is something can be known by head knowledge but it doesn’t become real and alive until it is heart knowledge. When the head knowledge makes a transfer to heart knowledge then we have our “A HA” moments. I read something the other day I never read before in the Bible. It says Jesus is the first to be raised which means we will follow. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. We follow Him in life on earth, in death and in resurrection. It is finally in my heart that I really know death is an illusion. I won’t die, I will live! I’m beginning to see God’s Kingdom in my minds eye. I feel myself making the transfer. I heard John Bevere say yesterday, Jesus doesn’t want a dating relationship where you know things about that person. He wants a marriage relationship where you are intimate with each other and know everything about that person. This is what I want, what I choose, to be intimate with Jesus. To really be one of His and when I pass I want to be known for loving Jesus. Everyone will know I went to be with Him.
