Psalm 2 has 12 verses. It’s all about what I should do as a follower. I made confession statements that say I WILL do these things. This isn’t going to be in exact order of the verses 1-12 but it’s an interpretation of them as a whole. I feel that they spoke to me from God and this is my response back to Him.
I belong to Jesus first of all. Anyone who is a believer belongs to Him because God gave Jesus the earth and everything in it. I know I’m His. And knowing that I’m His there are certain things that I should want to do for Him because I love Him. What I’m writing is for anyone not just me but I will write it as for myself. You know that this applies to you as well. First I will serve Jesus with all my heart and make Him King of my heart. That means He comes first. There is no thing, person or activity that gives me more pleasure than being in His presence. He fills me up with His Holy Spirit and then I can do life so much better. As I make Jesus first in my heart I will remember Him in all my circumstances so that I can make wise decisions and wise choices. He keeps me on track. I will be pleasing to God. We should want to be God pleasers and not people pleasers. When we are following what the Holy Spirit has directed us to do we are pleasing God. I have an example of what it means to follow the Holy Spirit. I was walking in the parking lot of Target one day. I passed a young mom who just buckled in her baby but still had her buggy to put away. As I passed her I heard the Holy Spirit say, go back and ask to take her buggy so she can just get in the car with her baby. Remember what it was like when you were there? So, I turned around and asked if she would like me to take her buggy and she said yes, thank you! I felt good inside for helping her and I knew I was doing what God wanted me to do. This leads into the next thing we should be doing and that is surrendering our lives to God on a daily basis.I will surrender my life to God so He can be glorified. As witnesses for Jesus we should also be declaring Jesus is the Son of God and stand up for Him! When I find myself in situations where Jesus is brought up I will speak up for Him and not be silent! But we do so in a way that keeps the peace. I will be a peacemaker. As I continually focus on Jesus, this practice actually keeps evil away. When our minds are absorbed with what the Bible says about us and about our lives, evil has no way of gaining a foothold in our minds. That’s where evil starts messing with us, in our minds. If evil can get in our thinking then you give him permission to set up camp there and he will destroy your life, eventually, if he is allowed to stay there. You are the only one who has control over what your meditating on. I will choose Jesus! As believers we should have reverential fear and awe of God. When we have this heart attitude we will rejoice and be high in spirits! We will be high on life, on Jesus! This enables us to want to seek and trust Him more!
Thank you Father for this insight! Thank you that in Your Word are the answers to the questions we seek! I praise You, honor You and glorify Your name on this earth so others who don’t know You will want to know You. You are good and I’m thankful I live under Your wing. Amen.
Scripture reading for today is Psalm 51:17
My [only] sacrifice [acceptable] to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart [broken with sorrow for sin, thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.
The thing that pleases God is a broken heart over sin and sorrow for the sin because it is against God. I should want to stay aware and have a repented heart toward God.To be sincerely sorry for my rejection of Him, repent and have full fellowship with Him again. Show me God, my sin against You so that I may repent and stay in unbroken fellowship with You and be pleasing in Your sight.
Trail To The Tree
When the angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to take Jesus to Egypt to avoid death from Herod. Joseph trusted God and proceeded.
Ann says: Today have faith that places that seem to be dying places…God means to bring forth life.
What this says to me is: Even if my life seems mundane or dead, God will bring life again. I have to trust the path that He has me on that maybe a season of mundane will bring a season of miracles. Ann Voskamp said: The mundane is what’s making miracles!
The scripture reading for today is Deuteronomy 8:3, He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Everything is in existence and held up by God’s Word. People need God’s Word to live a good life. We should be thankful for everything that exists! It is here because God spoke it into being. Study God’s Word to know His perfect will to be able to carry out His will in my life. This leads to a good life in His care. Thank you for this life on this earth with everything You created. Help me to keep studying and to be faithful to Your Word to uphold my life and help my family to be prosperous.
Trail to the Tree for today is Ram in the thicket. God provided a sacrifice right at the right moment, not early, not late, right on time. God provides for us right when we need it.
Today, live in trust, knowing He will see to it. ALL of it. Romans 8:32,
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
I will admit I have been fearful at night lately. I woke up the other night and realized my peace was gone. I got up at 3 am and felt drawn to read my book on prayer and one on faith. It helped me feel connected and I felt God’s presence. I have realized the importance of keeping devotion time and studying the Bible. It keeps me at peace. It reminds me God is here with me, it’s His world and He created me and won’t forsake me. He wouldn’t create everything and turn His back. He is present in every moment. The Bible reminds me I can trust Him to provide my every need. Thank you God for being here and providing for me.
Mary is beautiful in my eyes because of her willingness to obey. Luke 1:38, 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. I know in my life I have wanted to obey, but couldn’t muster up the ability to do it. I pray to be willing. I pray this whenever I feel myself slipping back into just wanting to be in my cave. When we look at our circumstances around us and they don’t line up with what God is saying in our heart, we need to trust Him, obey Him, cooperate with Him, to see a miracle! This is when miracles happen! When we are in alignment with God’s divine will. Mary did all this and gave birth to our Savior, Jesus Christ! God’s ways are higher than our ways, Isaiah 55:8-9, For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
They don’t make sense in our natural minds, but that’s why we need to trust, obey and cooperate. Follow as Mary did and you will experience God in your own life!
About this time last year I watched an awesome movie about Mary called Full of Grace, it is so good!
We read in Hebrews 11:6, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. If we truly believe in God we will seek Him and when we begin to know Him we have faith. Like our belief, faith will be tested though. Abraham’s faith was tested many times. It is a test God allows to show you how far you have grown in your faith. We won’t know the true depth of our faith until it’s tested. I have recently experienced this in my life.
I had earnestly been seeking the presence of God for months. Last April my husband and I decided to try once again to buy our first house. We had been trying for 10 years. We were very discouraged to say the least. This time when things were not looking good AGAIN, I decided to let it go. I told my husband that there are so many components to buying a house that it is impossible for us to know everything that it takes to get approved. I told him it’s up to God if we get a house. I stopped toiling over getting a house. My husband had the idea to ask our bank and two days later we were approved! We couldn’t believe it! They gave us an amount and said to find a house. We thought it was as simple as that. We found a house and then that opens another can of worms! It was a grueling 2 months before we actually got our house!
During this period God made Himself more visible to me than ever. My faith was put to the ultimate test. Unexpected costs came about once a week and God provided unexpected money every week. It was always the exact amount we needed. I related this period to riding a roller coaster. I hate roller coasters and I always close my eyes until the ride is over. I pictured myself holding Jesus’ hand while on this ride with my eyes closed until it was over. I left it all up to God. One day I was waiting for my son at school and God whispered something to me. He said,”Satan is like the big bad wolf, he wants to blow your house down but you have a foundation of rock, which is God’s Word, and he can’t touch you.” Satan tried to scare me into thinking I wasn’t getting the house many times but every time I put my faith in God it was miraculously taken care of. Even to the very end at closing, we didn’t need a dime! God provided the way. I knew that when God promises something He sees it through to the end and I stood on that promise. I wouldn’t do anything unless I was moved by the Holy Spirit.
Now that I have been here for 2 months, I thought this faith test would be over. But things keep coming up and my faith in God keeps showing up! I’m learning that real faith is proven when you have nothing and you rely on God to show up with something. Faith is a working inside yourself. It isn’t easy either. I had the thought recently that a faith life is hard. I wouldn’t want it any other way though because a life without faith is a life without God. Trusting God to take the next step is scary. But every time I take a step without visible evidence and give it to God, He always comes through. This strengthens me. Just like in 2 Timothy 4:17, The Lord stood with me and strengthened me…
When we really believe Jesus is the Son of God and believe Him when He said, ” I am with you always”, we have nothing to fear. Matthew 28:20, Isaiah 41:10 and John 16:33. When we let pride get in the way and forget we are “children” of God, fear sets in and our peace is gone. We have to continuously remind ourselves who we are in Christ. Satan can try to scare us, but when we know we belong to God, Satan can’t touch us. Mostly when I say this I mean in our minds. His negative thought darts can’t penetrate our thinking anymore. As we know everything that comes into being comes from thoughts first. When I start to feel fear about life or doubt I start saying out loud, “I trust You, Jesus”, as many times as it takes to get back into peace. I will also listen to my favorite worship songs and sing it to God. I feel His presence and fear has to flee. Romans 8:31, What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,who can be against us? Just like in the song You Make Me Brave, it says: No fear can hinder now the love that made a way. That love is the person Jesus. He made the way for us to enter heaven.
My readings for today are about hope in this moment and hope to come when we will be face to face with Jesus one day. Jesus gives us hope for now in this life by walking with us day by day and we have hope to be with Him in the New Earth because the Bible tells us so. With our hope being in Jesus we can not fail and we have nothing to fear. This reminds me of the Christmas song Winter Wonderland when it says: ” to face UNAFRAID the plans that we made, walking in a winter wonderland.” We are unafraid when we know we are walking in the plans God has made for our lives. We are walking in His wonderland with Him by our side and there is nothing to be afraid of.
Galatians 2:20, I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
When we are born again our old self is crucified and we no longer live as before but we live with Jesus inside of us, guiding us. We live trusting in Jesus who loves us and gave Himself up for us. This verse makes me want to continuously thank Jesus for what He did. I want to thank God for salvation and for His love. I need to let myself be guided by the Holy Spirit daily. Trust Him! Thank you for salvation and for Jesus and thank you for loving me even when I was far from You.
Scripture reading for today is Matthew 4:8-10 and its where Jesus is being tempted by Satan to bow down to him and he will give him the kingdoms of the world. Jesus said, “You must worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.”
Ann Voskamp says: Today I will thank Christ, adore Christ, bless Christ with my worship because worship is giving back to God what He’s breathed into us.
This temptation of Satan is one that he still does to us today. With all the worldly things out there to distract us and attract us away from wanting to know God and spend time with Him. It brings to mind the scripture about the seed falling where it gets choked out. The Word gets planted but the world prevents it from growing. Matthew 13:22, And the one on whom seed was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches choke the word, and it yields no fruit. This is what Satan tries to do to us once we are born again. He doesn’t want us to live out our salvation so he distracts us from it and attracts our flesh to worldly things. This prevents God’s Word from taking effect in our lives. We have to fight against this with the same scripture Jesus used. We MUST worship God and serve Him ONLY.
